– Mount Sinai, known as Jebel Musa in Arabic, holds great religious importance. It is traditionally believed to be the mountain where Moses received the Ten Commandments from God. The mountain stands at about 2,285 meters (7,497 feet) and offers a challenging yet rewarding hike to the summit.The journey to the top of Mount Sinai can be completed either by hiking the 3,750 steps (known as the Steps of Repentance) or by taking a longer, more gradual path. Both routes provide incredible views of the surrounding desert, and the experience is especially magical during sunrise or sunset when the colors of the desert sky and the mountain change dramatically. Many visitors hike to the summit at night to witness the breathtaking sunrise from the peak, an unforgettable experience.

-At the foot of Mount Sinai lies the Saint Catherine’s Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the oldest continuously operating monasteries in the world. Built in the 6th century by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian, the monastery is dedicated to Saint Catherine of Alexandria, a Christian martyr who was said to have been executed for her faith.The monastery is famous for its stunning architecture, religious significance, and historical artifacts. Inside, visitors can find ancient manuscripts, icons, and relics, including the famous “Burning Bush,” which, according to tradition, was where Moses encountered God. The monastery is still an active religious site, with monks residing and conducting daily services.
